Their numbers have increased considerably on roads all over the world. The acronym SUV is very popular and is common to the ears of all car lovers and drivers. Almost everyone knows that SUV stands for ‘Sports Utility Vehicle,’ but that doesn’t really tell a great deal about the vehicle. One thing all can agree on is that SUV is a 4-wheeler which can run on almost all types of roads – Highways, City Roads, Forest roads, farmland, and countryside.
Initially, SUVs were introduced as these big, rugged four-wheel drive machines that were built for a tough life, and combined the towing capacity of a full-size truck with the passenger and storage capacity of a minivan, and with the ability to go off-road. They are also much safer to navigate in harsh weather conditions and on the snowy roads during the winter. However, the modern SUVs have changed and have adapted according to the needs and wants of consumers. That is why many manufacturers now focus on fuel-efficiency, driving, and riding comfort.
What are some typical features of an SUV?
– Four-wheel drive: Most SUVs have 4 Wheel Drive, which of-course can be of great advantage if driving off-road, and preventing it from getting stuck on slippery surfaces. However, we now also have 2 wheel drive SUVs to improve fuel consumption and to reduce weight.
– Height: SUVs are generally meant to be tall. Not only does it give the driver a better view of the road ahead, but it can be very comfortable for those that are very tall. SUVs also have a good ground clearance and are capable of passing over jagged rocks, ruts without scraping the bottom.
– Spacious: SUVs have a roomy interior and are known for being spacious and for having either a very good or decent amount of cargo space. They are available as 5 seaters and 7 seaters.
What types of SUVs are available today?

Midsize SUV
